Hospitality Copywriting Services

Your food is better than your menu says it is.

A guest reads your menu for about ninety seconds and decides from it what kind of place this is.

Detrás Co. provides hospitality copywriting services for restaurants, bars, and hotels: menu and dish descriptions, website pages, email and SMS, and the brand voice that holds all of it together. Everyone who writes for us has worked a floor, a bar, or a pass. No content mill writing about food it has never tasted.

We are based in Denver and our photo and video work stays here. Copy travels. If you run a restaurant, a bar, or a hotel anywhere in the country, this work happens over a call, your current menu, and a read of what your guests already say about you in reviews.

What it covers

Hospitality copywriting services: four kinds of writing, one voice

Menu & Dish Descriptions

Sixty words that decide whether a guest orders the $18 plate or the $34 one. Written from your actual ingredients and your actual kitchen.

Website & Landing Page Copy

Home, about, private events, reservations. Pages that tell a first-time guest what a night here feels like, then ask for the booking.

Email & SMS Campaigns

The messages that bring a guest back a third time. Written for a phone screen and short enough to read while walking.

Brand Voice & Social Captions

One voice across your menu, your feed, your signage, and your replies to reviews. Documented so anyone on your team can write in it.

Why us

We wrote these words behind the bar first.

We have run a pass on a Saturday, comped a table, and watched a guest hesitate over a description that failed to sell. That is the experience showing up in the sentences. You get copy from people who know what a $34 entrée has to earn.

Where we work

Denver for the camera, anywhere for the copy

On-site photo and video stays in the Denver metro area. Copywriting runs remote, and we take hospitality clients nationwide.

Questions

Hospitality copywriting, answered directly.

How do I write menu descriptions that sell?

Lead with the thing a guest can picture. Name the ingredient or technique that makes the dish yours, keep it under twenty words, and cut any adjective that would sit just as easily on a competitor's menu. Words like fresh and delicious carry no information. We write these.

Do you write for hotels, or only restaurants and bars?

All three. Menu and beverage copy is the deepest part of our work, but rooms, packages, and property pages follow the same rules: specific detail, plain language, and a clear next step.

Do I have to buy a full marketing retainer to get copywriting?

No. Copywriting is scoped on its own, either as a one-time project or an ongoing monthly block. Plenty of operators start with a menu rewrite and nothing else.

How long does a menu rewrite take?

About two weeks for a standard food and beverage menu, from the first call to final files. Properties with multiple outlets run longer.

Will it still sound like us?

Yes. The first step is a voice session where we listen to how you and your staff already talk about the food. We write from that.
